DMARA Quality’s Proficiency Testing Division delivers structured proficiency testing (PT) programs for precious metals testing laboratories and hallmarking centers. Our programs support ongoing performance monitoring, technical competence demonstration, and compliance with accreditation and regulatory requirements.
Purpose of Proficiency Testing
Proficiency testing is an important element of laboratory quality assurance and is a key requirement for laboratories seeking or maintaining accreditation under ISO/IEC 17025:2017.
Participation in proficiency testing enables laboratories to:
- Monitor the consistency and reliability of test results
- Demonstrate technical competence
- Identify areas for improvement in testing performance
PT Program Design & Operation

Our proficiency testing programs are designed, operated, and evaluated in accordance with the requirements of ISO/IEC 17043:2023.
The PT schemes include:
- Planning and design of test items
- Distribution of samples
- Statistical evaluation of participant results
- Issuance of proficiency testing reports

Support for Accreditation & Regulatory Requirements
Our proficiency testing programs are structured to support laboratories and hallmarking centers in meeting assessment expectations of regulatory and accreditation bodies, including:
- Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS)
- National Accreditation Board for Testing and Calibration Laboratories (NABL)
Participation in PT programs does not imply certification or approval by any authority and is intended solely as a quality assurance activity.
PT Reports & Confidentiality
Proficiency testing results are evaluated and reported in a confidential manner. Individual participant results are disclosed only to the respective participant, in accordance with PT scheme procedures.
